Who makes the best electric pressure cooker? The question is simple, and the answer is also simple: Instant Pot. However, I did not want my review of the best electric pressure cookers on the market to be exclusively about Instant Pot multi-cookers. Therefore, in order to provide a balanced review, I also included other brand name electric pressure cookers.

Best Small Electric Pressure Cooker

Instant Pot Duo 7-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker

My top choice for the best small electric pressure cooker is the Instant Pot Duo 7-in-1 electric pressure cooker. This multi-cooker has a food-grade stainless steel inner pot with a 3-quart capacity. It seems like a good size for a single person or even two people.

This kitchen appliance is slightly smaller than the IP-DUO60 and IP-DUO80, which has 6-quart and 8-quart pots. Its small dimensions are 10 x 11.4 x 11.22 inches. The 3-quart Duo uses 700 watts, while the other Instant Pot multi-cookers use around 1000 watts.

The Instant Pot Duo has a LED screen and these preset programs:

  • Bean/Chili
  • Keep Warm
  • Meat/Stew
  • Porridge
  • Pressure Cook (up to 6 hours)
  • Rice (6 cups of uncooked rice maximum)
  • Sauté (3 temperature settings)
  • Slow Cook (Less, Normal or More temperature)
  • Soup/Broth
  • Steam
  • Yogurt

Its keep warm function will work for up to 10 hours. It also has a 24-hour delay start timer.

The following accessories are included with the Duo electric pressure cooker: condensation collector, recipe booklet, rice measuring cup, rice paddle, soup spoon and stainless steel steam rack (no handles).

You might not find a better, more affordable, 3-quart electric pressure cooker with a stainless steel inner pot than the Instant Pot Duo (buy it on Amazon).

Best Large Electric Pressure Cooker

GoWISE USA GW22637

The GoWISE USA GW22637 is the biggest electric pressure cooker I could find on such short notice. It has a 14-quart non-stick ceramic coated cooking pot. This pressure cooker is also available in smaller pot sizes: 6-quart, 8-quart and 12-quart. However, I am only interested in the largest pot size for this review.

The GoWISE USA GW22637 has a large control panel with two LED screens and buttons. The top LED seems to show the time information, while the bottom LED might show pressure readings (psi). One owner commented that the LED shows the actual psi while the cooker is cooking under pressure and cooling down. An LED that shows the current pressure seems like a rare feature.

The GoWISE USA GW22637 has ten preset menu programs which you select with buttons:

  • Steam
  • Rice
  • Multigrain
  • Porridge
  • Sauté
  • Soup
  • Meat/Stew
  • Bean/Chili
  • Poultry
  • Yogurt

There are also buttons for Delay Time (up to 24 hours), Adjust (edit pressure level and temperature) Slow Cook (up to 20 hours) and Egg Maker. Use the Pressure Time -/+ buttons to increase or decrease the pressure-cooking time. The last button is the Warm/Cancel button, which cancels the automatic keep warm function.

The GoWISE USA GW22637 electric pressure cooker includes the non-stick ceramic coated pot, rice heating plate, rice paddle and measuring cup. Unfortunately, there is no recipe booklet.

Overall, the GoWISE USA GW22637 seems to be the best large electric pressure cooker (check price on Amazon).

Best Electric Pressure Cooker With LCD Screen

Breville BPR700BSS Fast Slow Pro

The Breville Fast Slow Pro is my choice for the best electric pressure cooker with an LCD screen. However, I would have liked it even more if it had a stainless steel cooking pot and if it was less expensive. Nonetheless, the LCD screen is great, and its multiple dials seem easier to use than the single central dial of the Instant Pot Ultra.

The Fast Slow Pro has an LCD screen that actually changes color from its normal blue background to an orange background when it starts cooking! Very easy to see if the pressure cooker has started cooking or not.

The LCD screen of this Breville electric pressure cooker shows the temperature setting (low, medium or high), cook setting, cooking program, steam release method, pressure psi and cooking time. The pressure can be adjusted from a minimum of 1.5 psi up to a maximum of 12 psi.

The Breville Fast Slow Pro has three dials and three buttons. The three dials are for Temp/Pressure, Time and Start/Select. The three buttons are for Keep Warm, Release and Stop/Cancel. The Release button alters the automatic steam release method and may also be pressed to release any residual steam before opening the lid.

The Breville Fast Slow Pro offers the user six cook settings for pressure-cooking, slow cooking, steaming, searing, sautéing and reduction. The Pressure Cook and Slow Cook settings offer various preset menu programs for cooking soup, stock, beans, poultry, meat, stew, dessert and custom recipes (purchase it on Amazon).

Best Value Electric Pressure Cooker

Instant Pot Duo Plus 6 Quart

I think that the Instant Pot Duo Plus offers the best balance between price, features and performance. Here is a short list of its most important benefits:

  • Pressure cooker programs for soups, beans, rice, yogurt, and sous vide.
  • A thick bottom on a food-grade stainless-steel cooking pot allows for more uniform cooking.
  • The improved easy-release steam switch makes it easier than ever to release steam.
  • Overheat prevention and a safe-locking lid are among the more than ten safety measures included.
  • Delicious one-pot dishes may be pressure cooked much quicker than traditional techniques.
  • Cooking methods include pressure-cooking, slow cooking, rice cooking, yogurt making, sauté panning, sterilizing, and food warming.
  • Dishwasher-safe lid, inner pot, and accessories with stainless-steel sides.
  • The easy-to-read display contains a complete cooking progress indicator that indicates where you are in the cooking program.

The Duo Plus has the safety features, specifications and stainless steel cooking pot of the older IP-DUO models. However, it has been updated with a new LCD screen. It also has three new programs: Cake, Egg and Sterilize.

The only drawback is that the Duo Plus is only available with a 6-quart stainless steel pot. You will have to buy the Instant Pot Duo or get the IP-DUO80 if you want a smaller 3-quart or a larger 8-quart pot.

In brief, the Instant Pot Duo Plus 6-quart cooker is my top choice for the best value electric pressure cooker (shop now on Amazon).

Conclusion

Thank you for reading my electric pressure cooker buying guide. I hope to add more examples in the future. Also, remember to read my review of the Instant Pot IP-DUO60 because it is such a bestseller.
