The Ozmo 930 is yet another Deebot vacuum robot from the Ecovacs company. It has both mapping technology and mopping abilities. Is the Deebot Ozmo 930 worth buying or not?

Mopping

The unique feature of the Deebot Ozmo 930 is its mopping function. The robot’s design incorporates special water pumps and sensors which control the water flow to the mopping pad. This function is primarily for mopping away dirt from hardwood floors. If you spill some coffee or syrup on the floor, then do not expect the robot to clean it.

What happens if the Ozmo 930 goes to recharge its battery during a mopping session? It seems like the mop attachment will not interfere with the charging process. However, it is best to remove the mopping pad when the job is done. Do not let the robot vacuum sit on the charging dock with the mopping pad for longer than necessary.

Mapping

Another main feature of the Deebot Ozmo 930 is its mapping technology. You have to let it run around the house to create its first map. Then you can use the smartphone app to set up a virtual boundary or to draw a specific area where it should clean. The mapping function does not support a multi-level home. Also, it sometimes forgets the map and then has to create a new one. The mapping technology still has a few issues, even though it looks cool.

Sensors

The Deebot Ozmo 930 has both obstacle detection and anti-drop sensors. Nonetheless, you should pick up any items or cords that are lying on the floor to prevent the robot from getting stuck on it by accident.

The Ozmo 930 also has adaptive floor sensing. This sounds very important, but it is really very simple. It senses the transition from hard floor surfaces to carpet while it is mopping and then avoids the carpet. When it is not in mopping mode with the mop pad attached, it does not avoid the carpet and actually increases its suction power when it senses that it is on carpet.

App

Use the app to manage the cleaning schedules and to control the vacuum robot remotely. The map that the robot vacuum creates can be used for drawing a virtual boundary or a specific area to vacuum. You can find the Android app in the Google Play Store. The IOS app is available in the Apple Store. The app does not work with 5G Wi-Fi, only 2.4G is supported.

Voice

The Deebot Ozmo 930 supports voice command technologies such as Alexa and Google Assistant. However, it seems like there is no support for Apple HomeKit.

Deebot Ozmo 930 vs. Roomba 960

These robotic vacuum cleaners both have an app and support for Alexa and Google Assistant. The map function on the Ecovacs app is more interactive because you can draw areas on it. The iRobot Home app only shows a map of the area that the Roomba has successfully cleaned. The Roomba 960 obviously does not have a mopping pad. When it comes to price, the Ozmo 930 is cheaper than the Roomba 960.

Ozmo 930 vs. Deebot 900

These Deebot vacuum cleaners both have smart navigation and virtual mapping, which means that they do not clean randomly. They do not have the usual cleaning functions such as spot or edge cleaning. Instead, you draw areas on the map where they should or should not clean. Nevertheless, they still have an automatic cleaning mode. They also support voice commands and the smart app.

Other shared features include a run time of about 100 minutes and the ability to clean all floor types. However, the Ozmo 930 also has a mopping pad and adaptive floor sensing, which the Deebot 900 obviously does not have. You may read our review of the Deebot 900 for more information about its features and performance.

Deebot Ozmo 930: Verdict

The Ozmo 930 is cheaper than the Roomba 960, yet it costs more than the Deebot 900 because it offers the extra mopping function. You have to decide whether the mopping function is worth the extra money (see pricing on Amazon).
