The Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 2-in-1 vacuuming and mopping robots give you two robots for the price of one. No need to buy a separate automatic robot mop in addition to a vacuum cleaning robot. This review looks at the Deebot robots that have the OZMO mopping technology such as the T8 AIVI, T5, 960, 950, 930 and 920.

Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI

The Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI can see, recognize and avoid many obstacles in the house. Less chance that the robot will slip on a slipper or choke on a discarded sock. The enhanced AIVI technology (artificial intelligence and visual interpretation) provides a fast recognition speed so that the robot vacuum can identify and avoid objects on the floor. The collected data is used to optimize its cleaning behavior.

The Deebot Ozmo T8 creates an accurate map of the floor plan. The map unlocks advanced options such as custom cleaning and area cleaning. The robot supports multi-floor mapping so that each level of your house has its own map and customized cleaning areas. You can set up an unlimited amount of virtual boundaries that the robot will not cross.

Furthermore, its electronic eye allows you to do video home monitoring with your smartphone. Watch a live video stream from the robot’s camera to see what the dog is chewing today. Of course, this raises concerns about privacy. What if someone hacks the robot?

The Deebot Ozmo T8 is powered by a 5200mAh battery that provides a maximum working time of about 180 minutes. This is under ideal conditions, and results will vary from home to home. Nevertheless, the long runtime makes the Deebot Ozmo T8 a good robot vacuum for large homes. It has the ability to automatically find its docking station, recharge its battery, and then resume cleaning until it has finished the whole floor. If it had legs, it would have gone up to the next floor to start cleaning there too! Remember to put the charging dock on a hard floor like wood or tile and not carpet, otherwise it will not leave the charging dock when in mopping mode.

The Deebot Ozmo T8 can both vacuum and mop at the same time. It automatically avoids carpets when the mopping function is active. The high-efficiency filter removes particles as small as 6 microns, which means that 99% of the filthy stuff gets filtered out. However, it does not have the automatic dirt disposal system of the Roomba i7+ and the Shark IQ robotic vacuum cleaners.

If you have a commanding presence and a strong voice, then you might try out the hands-free voice control ability of the Deebot Ozmo T8 with either Amazon Echo or Google Home.

The Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI is just as good at cleaning, mopping and mapping as any other robotic vacuum cleaner. It has all the features of an expensive robot vacuum and mop such as obstacle detection, object recognition, video monitoring, multi-floor mapping, automatic recharge resume and long battery runtime. The Deebot Ozmo T8 is one of the most advanced robotic vacuum cleaners on the market and therefore hard to beat (buy it on Amazon).

T8 AIVI vs. Roborock S6 MaxV

These two robots appear to be in direct competition with each other because they have similar features and specifications.

First, they both have cameras and artificial intelligence that assist them in advanced obstacle recognition and room mapping. However, the T8 has only one camera eye, while the S6 MaxV has two cameras for stereoscopic vision. This gives the Roborock the advantage of depth perception so that it can more accurately guess the location and size of any object in its path. You can also access the camera of both these robots remotely from your smartphone to see what the robot can see.

Second, these robot vacuum cleaners have multi-floor mapping with advanced map management options.

Third, they have a mopping system for mopping the floor. Just keep in mind that the mopping performance of a robot vacuum is limited to damp mopping. Nonetheless, it reduces the daily amount of mopping you have to do by hand by wiping up the dust and dirt that the brushes and suction does not get.

Fourth, there is the working times to consider. These robots have 5200mAh batteries that provide a runtime of up to 180 minutes.

So what is the actual difference between these two robot vacuum cleaners? The list price for each of these vacuum and mopping robots are almost the same. We did notice that the Roborock S6 MaxV has only one side spinning brush, while the Deebot Ozmo T8 has two side brushes. Yet, how much difference does that really make? It seems like it comes down to this: do you support Ecovacs or Roborock?

T8 AIVI vs. 960 And 950

Let us compare a few of the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo robots to figure out what the similarities and differences might be.

The T8 uses true mapping navigation compared to the smart navigation of the other models. The cleaning modes are the same: Auto, Area and Custom.

The T8 only has a floating main brush, while the other models have an interchangeable intake: either a brush or no brush. These models all have carpet detection and automatic vacuum power adjustment. The dust bin sizes are between 420 and 450 milliliters.

When it comes to mopping, there is no difference because they all use the OZMO mopping system with water level adjustment.

The T8, 960 and 950 can interact wirelessly with the Ecovacs app for map generation, OTA updates, voice reports and time scheduling.

The key specification difference between these robots is that the 960 has a 3200mAh battery instead of the 5200mAh battery of the other two models. This means that the Deebot 960 has a shorter runtime of only 90 minutes! In this case, the Deebot Ozmo 950 seems to be the better choice because of its larger battery and longer 180-minute runtime.

Deebot Ozmo T5

The key features of the Deebot Ozmo T5 are its laser navigation, mapping, vacuuming, mopping and 3-hour runtime. It provides a high level of cleaning at a relatively low noise level.

The laser navigation and mapping helps the robot to be more efficient at cleaning the house. It creates a map of the floor and then creates the most efficient cleaning path. The robot and app supports multi-floor mapping.

The Ecovacs Home app allows you to customize the cleaning areas of each saved map. Draw designated cleaning zones or create an unlimited amount of virtual no-go boundaries. You may also use the app to check up on the robot vacuum’s status or to set up a cleaning schedule. The app and robotic vacuum cleaner can be updated using “over the air” technology.

The Deebot T5 can both vacuum and mop at the same time. The air suction intake can be changed to take either a brushless suction port or a main brush. The mopping watering level can be customized with the app. Importantly, the Deebot Ozmo T5 can detect carpets and avoid it when the mopping mode is active. If the mopping mode is inactive, then the robotic vacuum cleaner will increase the vacuum power to clean the carpet. Its high-efficiency filter removes annoying particles from the air it vacuums up.

Do you have a large home with wide open spaces? The Deebot Ozmo T5 has a 5200mAh battery that gives it a 3-hour working time. If the battery runs low while working, then the robot vacuum automatically finds its dock to recharge. It will even continue cleaning where it stopped cleaning before it went to recharge its battery.

The Deebot Ozmo T5 is just as good as at vacuuming as any other robotic vacuum cleaner on the market. Just remember that the mopping function only does a type of damp mopping, not a deep wet mop clean. It cannot mop up very dirty or sticky spots. You will still have to stop crying and mop up the proverbial spilt milk yourself (check price on Amazon).

Deebot Ozmo 930

The Deebot Ozmo 930 is yet another vacuuming and mopping robot from the Ecovacs company. The mopping system incorporates special water pumps and sensors which control the water flow to the mopping pad. This function is primarily for mopping away dirt from hardwood floors. If you spill coffee or syrup on the floor, then get up and wipe it up! Do not expect the robot to do everything.

What happens if the robot goes to recharge its battery during a mopping session? It seems like the mop attachment will not interfere with the charging process. However, it is best to remove the mopping pad when the job is done. Do not let the robot vacuum sit on the charging dock with the mopping pad for longer than necessary. The Deebot Ozmo 930 has a 3200mAh Li-ion battery that gives it a maximum working time of 110 minutes.

Another main feature of the Deebot Ozmo 930 is its mapping technology. You have to let it run around the house to create its first map. Then you can use the smartphone app to set up a virtual boundary or to draw a specific area where it should clean.

The Deebot 930 has both obstacle detection and anti-drop sensors. Nonetheless, you should pick up any items or cords that are lying on the floor to prevent the robot from getting stuck on it by accident.

This robotic vacuum cleaner has adaptive floor sensing. This sounds very important, but it is really very simple. It senses the transition from hard floor surfaces to carpet while it is mopping and then avoids the carpet. When it is not in mopping mode with the mop pad attached, it does not avoid the carpet and actually increases its suction power when it senses that it is on carpet.

The Deebot Ozmo 930 supports voice command technologies such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The robot can also do voice reporting, keeping you updated on its activities. Although, I am not sure about whether I want a robotic vacuum cleaner to talk to me. I want a robot vacuum, not Robby the Robot!

Deebot Ozmo 920

The Deebot 920 is a 2-in-1 robotic appliance designed for both vacuuming and mopping. It has the OZMO water reservoir mopping system.

The 920 model has all the efficient cleaning features of a Deebot such as smart navigation, three cleaning modes, interchangeable tangle-free intake or floating main brush, carpet detection, vacuum power adjustment and high-efficiency air filter.

It generates a map for the app that supports multi-floor mapping and virtual boundaries. Hands-free control is supported for Google Home and Amazon Echo.

The Deebot Ozmo 920 has a 3200mAh battery with a 110-minute working time. The charging dock allows the robot to recharge itself and then resume cleaning if necessary.

Conclusion

Well, I feel that it is time to conclude this review of the Deebot Ozmo robotic vacuum cleaners and mops.

If you really want to get into the details of what makes each model different from the next, then you can visit the Ecovacs Robotics website and do your own research and comparisons there. At the end of the day, the right Deebot Ozmo robotic vacuum cleaner for your home is probably a compromise between cost, features, connectivity and control.
