The ILIFE V5s combines automatic vacuum cleaning with a removable water tank and removable damp mop attachment. Its recommended retail price is under $300, which makes it an inexpensive robotic vacuum cleaner and mop.

What accessories are included?

The ILIFE V5s has both a dust bin and a water tank. Insert the dust bin when the robot should vacuum the floor. Remove the dust bin, insert the water tank and attach the mop cloth holder when you want the robot to damp mop the floor. The following things are included:

  • V5s robotic vacuum cleaner with dust bin
  • charging dock
  • cleaning brush
  • extra HEPA filter
  • extra side brush
  • mop cloth
  • power adapter
  • remote control
  • user manual
  • water tank

What type of battery does it use?

It uses a 2600mAh, lithium-ion battery which has a one-year warranty. This lithium-ion battery gives it a run time of between 90 and 110 minutes. The robotic vacuum cleaner is self-charging, and it will find its way back to the charging dock to recharge itself. You might get an extra charging dock if you use the V5s to clean multiple rooms in the house. The robot vacuum will then have a better chance of finding a charging dock before it runs out of battery power.

Can the V5s clean carpets?

It can clean thin carpets when the dust bin is present, but not when the water tank is loaded. However, it does not have a rotating brush underneath its vacuum port. The V5s only has two side brushes. The lack of a rotating brush decreases its carpet cleaning ability. It is more capable at cleaning hardwood, laminate or tile floors.

The A4s is a better ILIFE robotic vacuum cleaner for carpets. It has a central bristle brush underneath its suction port which sweeps up pet hair and fur from thin carpets. You may read our A4s review for an overview of its features and frequently asked questions.

Will it move from hard floor to carpet?

It will do so if the height difference is less than 10 mm, or at less than a 15-degree incline. Even so, this might present a problem if the V5s is in mopping mode, and it tries to get onto the carpet. The V5s does not have a virtual wall, so you will have to create a physical barrier between the hard floor and the carpet by closing the door.

Does it have a schedule function?

You can use the remote control to schedule the robotic vacuum cleaner to automatically vacuum clean once per day. However, the schedule function cannot be used with the water tank and mop cloth due to safety issues. The schedule function is only for dry vacuum cleaning.

ILIFE V5s vs. Roomba 650

The Roomba 650 has two counter-rotating brushes beneath its vacuum port, which makes it much better at brushing carpets and sweeping hard floors. The ILIFE V5s has two side brushes, but no rotating brush in its center. However, it has a water tank and mop cloth for damp mopping hard floors. The Roomba 650 can only do vacuum cleaning.

It seems like the Roomba 650 has a standard iRobot AeroVac air filter. The ILIFE robot vacuum has a HEPA-style filter for removing allergens from the air it expels while vacuum cleaning.

Another dissimilarity is that the Roomba 650 uses a virtual wall to limit its movement. The ILIFE V5s does not have a virtual wall accessory. Nonetheless, it does have a remote control.

There is also a price distinction between these two robotic vacuum cleaners. The Roomba 650 is available for between $300 to $400. The ILIFE V5s is a more affordable robotic vacuum cleaner and normally costs less than $250. You might even get it at a price of less than $200 if you know where to look.

ILIFE V5s vs. Pro

There seems to be three differences to mention. The first difference is the diameter of the wheels. The V5s has 58 mm wheels, while the V5s Pro model has 65 mm wheels. The bigger wheels give the Pro model better rug climbing and door threshold crossing abilities.

The second difference is that the Pro model has a max mode, which increases its suction to the maximum for cleaning thin carpets.

Finally, the Pro model seems to have a slightly longer run time of between 110 and 120 minutes. The V5s only has a battery run time of between 90 and 110 minutes.

The rest of the features are shared by these two ILIFE V-series vacuum cleaning robots.

Conclusion

The ILIFE V5s is an affordable alternative to the more expensive iRobot Roomba robotic vacuum cleaners. It works well for dry vacuuming and damp mopping hard floor surfaces. However, it does not do so well on carpeted rooms or area rugs due to its lack of a central rotating brush.

To conclude, you might buy one robotic cleaner, but you get both a vacuum cleaning robot and a robotic mop in one inexpensive package (check price on Amazon).
